General Guidelines for Charitable Contributions, Sponsorship, and Patient Education Program Requests:
Elan reviews all requests to align resources with the highest quality programs. There are many factors that are evaluated when reviewing requests for funding including but not limited to the following:
- Alignment with one of Elan’s clinical areas of interest:
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Crohn’s Disease
- Azheimer’s Disease
- Parkinson’s Disease
- and other areas of Elan’s clinical interests
- Budget availability
- Compliance with all applicable policies and regulations
- Patient education programs must be consistent within current product labeling
- Charitable contributions must be provided to not-for-profit third party organizations where the intent is to provide goodwill on behalf of the company
Requests may not be funded for:
- Gifts to individual or endowment
- Political organizations, political parties, third-party PACs, political candidates or political office holders, unless via an Elan PAC
- The purchase, construction, expansion or modification of facilities, equipment or other capital expenditures
- Support for military or religious programs
Request for funding should be made at least 10 weeks prior to the event date to ensure all necessary review and paperwork is completed in a timely manner. In order for your submission to be reviewed, Elan must receive the following:
- A formal request letter on the requesting institution’s letterhead is required for the application
- A program or agenda of events, with specific topics, speakers, date(s), and location
- Tax ID and/or verification of a signed W-9 or W8-BEN
- 501 (c) attachments / designation letter for any charitable donation request
Requests may be subject to rejection if information is incomplete or missing
The External Funding Committee (EFC) meets on a regular basis. Once a decision is made, you will be notified by mail or via email.
